Current Election
Municipal General – NOVEMBER 4, 2025
Tuesday, October 7 – Late voter registration begins. Voters must appear in person at
1200 Main Street, Forsyth MT to register to vote or make any changes to their voter registration.
Thursday October 16 – More than 1,500 municipal general ballots will be mailed to active and provisionally registered voters residing in the City of Colstrip and Forsyth. Election equipment testing will begin this day and continue until completed. Elections staff will test the tabulators used to count ballots to ensure they are working properly ahead of Election Day. They will also test the ADA-compliant ExpressVote ballot marking devices to ensure they are operating correctly. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the test.
Monday, November 3 – Voters may register and vote until 12 noon.
Tuesday, November 4 – Election Day. Polling places will not be open. Voters may register and vote until 8 p.m. and ballots are due by 8 p.m. – Postmarks do not count!
What is on the ballot?
All city of Colstrip residents who are registered to vote will receive a ballot to vote for 2 City Alderman
The City of Forsyth East Ward will receive a ballot to vote for 1 East Ward city council member. There will be no Mayor of Forsyth or West Ward city council race as there was only one candidate filing for each position.
How can I vote?
This will be a mail-only election, no polling places. All active and provisionally registered voters who reside within the City limits of Colstrip and the East Ward (Precinct 3) of Forsyth will receive a ballot. Drop your ballot in the mail with plenty of time for it to arrive by 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 4th. Postmarks do not count!

Ballot Drop Options
Voters can drop off their ballots in person during business hours which are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Elections Office – 2nd floor of the Rosebud County Courthouse and from 7a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
Replacement Ballots – Replacement ballots may be obtained at the Rosebud County Elections office during business hours.
Undeliverable Ballots – Ballots cannot be forwarded through the U.S. Postal Service. If a mailing address is no longer active, the ballot will be returned to our office. Upon return to our office as undeliverable, we immediately mail a forwardable confirmation postcard to capture the voter’s new address information. If voters wish to pick up their ballot, they may do so in person at the Rosebud County Elections office during business hours. If an individual would like to pick up an undeliverable ballot on behalf of another voter, our office must be provided with a signed request granting permission.
