Job Opening – Sheriff Deputy

PROBATIONARY DEPUTY SHERIFF-PATROL
$24.52/HOUR
Rosebud County is conducting a recruitment to establish a hiring pool for Probationary Deputy Sheriff position(s). Initial assignment is to Patrol Division in ASHLAND, MT.
To qualify applicants must meet the following statutory requirements:
- be a citizen of the United States; MCA 7-32-303
- be at least 18 years of age;
- be a graduate of an accredited high school or the equivalent;
- never have been convicted of a felony;
- be fingerprinted and search made of appropriate files to disclose any criminal record;
- not have been affiliated in any manner with a subversive organization within 5 years;
- within 30 days immediately preceding his/her date of employment have been examined by a physician licensed to practice in the state of Montana and have been pronounced in good physical condition (this examination is provided by the County);
- be of good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation;
- have successfully completed an oral interview in which the characteristics necessary to a peace officer are demonstrated;
- possess or be eligible for a valid Montana driver’s license
Due to occupational requirements, applicants must agree to and successfully pass driving record review and criminal history check to qualify for consideration. Successful applicants must have/be able to obtain Montana driver’s license and must have safe driving record. Applicants must pass and extensive background investigation and, upon offer of employment, a medical fitness for duty examination, including drug screening and hearing and vision exams, provided at the County’s expense.
Applicant must be able to complete the Montana Law Enforcement Academy or challenge course.

- Copy of valid driver’s license, proof of US Citizenship (ex: birth certificate, passport, OTHER DOCUMENT LISTED ON I9 like certificate of naturalization), documentation of graduation from an accredited high school or GED certificate, and DD214 if claiming veterans preference, AND
- Completed and signed Waiver and Release form.
